- Health: No illnesses, inoculated, wormed, receives monthly flea prevention medication
- Medication: On Reconcile to keep his frustration levels down due to current circumstances
Rocky is a strong, loving and energetic dog with high drive. He loves other dogs and has lived in a household with children (aged 10 years+). He is also used to noisy environments with buses, bicycles and traffic etc. Rocky cannot be housed with cats, he likes chasing them too much.
Due to neglect, lack of control, socialisation and exercise, Rocky required training earlier this year to correct some behaviours. In March 2023, he received extensive training with Temperament Dogs. His trainer, who has kept in close contact, reported that Rocky responded brilliantly to his training. They found him to be intelligent, curious, obedient and highly responsive. Rocky's vet said he was a "different dog" when he returned home from training.
Rocky's training report from Temperament Dogs will be made available to read-in full to any serious adopter or fosterer that applies.
Unfortunately, due to neglect since returning home, Rocky's behaviour has regressed. Sadly, his owners are now choosing to take the easy option and have him put to sleep, which is completely unnecessary.
We can stop this from happening if we find him a home immediately.
Because of his current living conditions, Rocky would benefit from another weeks refresher training with Temperament Dogs. You will not have to pay for this training. His current guardian has offered to cover the cost of this. Both his current guardian and the trainers are more than confident that Rocky's behaviours can be corrected.
Rocky's guardian has exhausted all options to find Rocky a new home or temporary foster home. They have contacted dozens of dog rescue shelters and charities but they are all full and have long waiting lists. They have also reached out to breed specific shelters, 12 prisons and 6 police dog units, but have had no luck.
They are now asking you, the public to help find him a new home or temporary foster home.
Rocky's guardian is looking for the right person, based in the UK to immediately foster or adopt him. Adoption is preferred.
ABOUT YOU
Ideally, you will be experienced with Rocky's breed and/or behaviours and located in a quiet countryside location to give Rocky the calm he so desperately needs.
You will also ideally be able to cope with a strong, high energy dog that requires time, dedication and importantly, lots of love and care.
